Gate of Heaven Roman Catholic Church

We at Gate of Heaven are dedicated to our youth. It's often said that the youth are the future of the Church. I don't believe that statement to be quite true. I believe that the youth are the Church now. In that belief we strive to involve Jr. high and Sr. high youth in areas of the church so that they feel they can make a difference now.

The Back Mountain Catholic Youth Council was first started in the fall of 2000. It is comprised of the youth from Gate of Heaven, Our Lady of Victory, St. Therese, and St. Frances X. Cabrini Churches. It is open to you in grades 6-8 (Jr. high) and 9-12 (Sr. high).

Theology on Tap mixes Catholic theology and fellowship for 4 weeks in Spring and 4 weeks in the Fall. This is an opportunity to gather and discuss our beliefs as Catholics. The meetings are held at a local restaurant in the Wilkes-Barre Area.

Theology on Tap evening begins with food, drink and fellowship in a casual atmosphere. Afterwards, a priest or other Catholic leader that is schooled in Catholicism giving a short presentation on a Catholic topic in a group discussion.

Gate of Heaven Parish is a faithful and holy community of Catholic believers who are baptized, and in union with the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. We worship God - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - through the celebration of the Mass and reception of the Church’s Sacraments. We serve our community and the risen Lord by living the Gospel message and being Christ to others.
