 Education

Gate of Heaven offers several educational opportunities for those seeking avenues of understanding.

Need to acquire the knowledge of our religion to receive a sacrament? Want to increase your knowledge about Catholicism? Want to become a Catholic? CCD and Youth Group are classes and meetings for school age parishioners. RCIA, or Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, is for those seeking conversion to Catholicism or wanting a further understanding of Catholicism.

Choosing a Catholic school is one of the most important decisions a parent can make. Academic excellence, highly qualified and dedicated teachers and a variety of activities designed to develop students’ talents and interests make Gate of Heaven School an excellent choice for elementary education.

In an effort to educate Christian citizens prepared to meet the demands of a changing society, a multifaceted curriculum designed to serve the needs of the individual student has been developed. Through this educational curriculum as well as co curricular activities, the faculty and administration of Bishop O'Reilly High School strive to provide an environment which will allow all students to reach their full potential.

The Diocese of Scranton owns and operates a local TV stations called Catholic Television.  It carries a variety of family programming relating to our Faith.   Watch daily Mass, the Rosary, Interviews with local leaders, and national programs.

The Catholic Light is the official journal of the Diocese of Scranton. As such, the publication of notices, regulations and extra-synodical decrees in the paper constitutes legal promulgation for all the faithful of the Diocese of Scranton, Clergy and Laity.

Gate of Heaven School

Gate of Heaven Parish is a faithful and holy community of Catholic believers who are baptized, and in union with the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church.  We worship God - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - through the celebration of the Mass and reception of the Church’s Sacraments.  We serve our community and the risen Lord by living the Gospel message and being Christ to others.  As a welcoming community, we invite all to come and share their gifts with us and receive God’s blessings.
